US Number for Google Verification
A US virtual number with country code +1 can be used when Google requests phone verification by SMS. Google may request a phone number during account creation, sign-in, or other account verification procedures.
US Phone Number Format
The United States uses the North American Numbering Plan (NANP). US phone numbers contain a three-digit area code followed by a seven-digit telephone number.
Typical format:
+1 XXX XXX XXXX
Use the complete number with the +1 country code when Google requests an international phone number.
Google Phone Verification
Google may require phone verification to confirm account activity and prevent automated or abusive registrations. When SMS verification is offered, Google sends a verification code to the selected phone number.
Google determines whether a particular number can be used for verification. A number may be rejected if it has already been used too many times or does not meet Google's verification requirements.
Receiving a Google Verification SMS
Purchase an available US number and enter it when Google requests phone verification. Select SMS verification when that option is available.
If Google sends an SMS and the message is successfully received, the verification code will appear in your SMS-ROOMS account.
US Mobile Networks
Major mobile networks in the United States include:
Verizon
AT&T
T-Mobile
US numbers can be transferred between carriers, so the original number prefix does not always identify the network currently serving the number.
US Area Codes
US telephone numbers use three-digit area codes. Examples include 212, 332, 646 and 917 in New York City, 213 and 323 in Los Angeles, and 305 and 786 in Miami.
The area code depends on the number currently available for activation.
Price and Availability
The price and availability of US numbers for Google can change. Current options and prices are displayed before activation.
If US numbers are temporarily unavailable, check again later or select another available country.
If Google Rejects the Phone Number
Google may display a message that a particular phone number cannot be used for verification or has been used too many times. In this case, that number cannot be forced through the verification process.
Use another available number and follow the verification options provided by Google.
